A year after the collapse of society, he uses art to forget his loneliness and the new world around him. A futuristic, dystopian short... or maybe just realistic?

The theme of the competition for which I initially wrote this short film was "Tomorrow". In 2019, we were in the throes of realising what was at stake in the climate crisis and, in this context, it was difficult to imagine a dazzling future.
I had filmed some footage of the climate protests, and it seemed obvious that I should use it in my film. I first wrote the script as a sequence shot, then we took the liberty of cutting it up during filming. We also added improvised scenes using the set.
The absence of dialogue was a choice designed to allow the viewer to feel the solitude of the protagonist and the hostility of this new toxic world. I also tried to criticise the ineffectiveness of television through the warning programme that plays over and over again... to no avail.
